HOW IT WORKS

At the heart of the EPEX programme is our proprietary business simulation model, which provides all of the tools required to identify, analyse and implement the key strategic decisions faced by a real-life oil and gas company. The simulation takes participants on a multi-year journey, during which you have to take decisions on a variety of issues.

These include entering new countries, drilling exploration wells, developing commercial discoveries, buying and selling assets, investing in new technology, meeting environmental and safety standards, forming joint ventures and managing your finances. As in the real world, you have to be prepared to deal with uncertainty, manage risk and react to unexpected events. In order to succeed, you must compete and collaborate and be prepared to negotiate with government, partners and competitors.

MAKE REAL-LIFE DECISIONS AND LEARN FROM THEIR CONSEQUENCES

MAKE DECISIONS WITH EASE

THE PROCESS The model provides a sophisticated simulation of the decision-making process and its consequences and allows you to see the impact of your actions as you guide your company through the complex world of the E&P business. You and your team review the available information, analyse your options and then make your choices.

What strategy will you choose? In which countries will you invest? How much will you bid for new acreage? Which prospects will you drill? Which discoveries will you develop? Which assets will you buy or sell? In addition, you can see what your competitors are doing. Where are they investing? How much oil and gas are they producing? How is their share price performing compared to yours?

There are also a range of tools to check your progress and evaluate your options. How are you doing against your chosen performance indicators? Do you need to raise more funding? How does your portfolio perform under different scenarios and what can you do about it?
